Parish Ministries

Worship

These ministers participate in Liturgies and serve the Parish in many ways.
ALTAR SERVERS prepare the altar and assist the presider during liturgy.  This ministry is open to anyone in grades 6-12, who has received First Communion.  
  

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at liturgies and bring communion to the sick and homebound, as well as preside at Parish Communion Services.  Contact:  

LECTORS proclaim the Word of God during liturgy.  They read the Epistles, lead the congregation in the Prayer of the Faithful, inform the congregation of the hymns to be sung, and make announcements to the congregation.  
MUSIC MINISTERS lead and support the prayer and song of the assembly; their gift is not performance, but leadership in prayer.  There are several areas where music ministers may share their talents.

The Adult Choir is a community of prayer for whom music is simply the vehicle for ministry.  They strive to counter the cacophony of the world around us with gentle and joyful sounds that turn the mind and heart to God.    Rehearsals are weekly, Thursday evenings from 7-9PM.  New members, high school age and up, are welcome. 

A Cantors principle ministry is that of leading the psalm and litanies and engaging the assembly in their proper roll -- the one who breathes life into the assembly. Participation is flexible, based on an individuals availability.  Printed schedules and copies of weekly Reponsorial Psalms are distributed 8-12 weeks in advance along with an audiotape to facilitate learning.  New cantors are welcome. 

The Folk Group is the parish's contemporary music ensemble that leads the assembly in joyful song during the 9:45 AM liturgy on alternate Sundays.  They work in harmony with the parish's other ministries to provide new opportunities for prayer via music.   Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.  Musicians and vocalist who may be interested in sharing their talents are welcome.
